Adam Sandler is an American comedic actor, producer and screenwriter. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on September 9, 1966. He is best known for his comedy films like Anger Management and Click.
Early in his life Sandler showed a natural affiliation for comedy. This became apparent at age 17 when he did stints at comedy clubs in Boston. As a freshman at New York University in the late 1980s, Sandler landed a role in the Cosby Show. In 1990, courtesy of Dennis Miller, Sandler was cast into Saturday Night Live.
Following his stint on Saturday Night Live, Sandler began making comedy films. Among his early hits were Airheads (1994), Billy Madison (1995), the Wedding Singer (1998) and Happy Gilmore (1996). He has also starred in the following films: Mr. Deeds, Punch-Drunk Love (both in 2002), Anger Management (2003) and 50 First Dates (2004).
Some of Sandler’s other movies include I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007) and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (2007) Although best known for his comedy roles, Sandler has proven himself capable of dramatic roles. In 2007’s Reign Over Me he played the role of a man who loses his family in the September 11 attacks and rekindles a friendship with an old college friend.
Awards and Other Works
He was the Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actor in the 2006 movie Click. Sandler was also the Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actor in the 2008 film Bedtime Stories. He also won the same award for the Waterboy, Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds.
Sandler was a writer for the following films: Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and the Waterboy. He was an executive producer for the Waterboy and Big Daddy. Sandler was also an executive producer for Little Nicky (2008), Animal (2001) and Mr. Deeds. He was a producer / writer of Eight Crazy Nights.
Adam Sandler’s Charity Works and Politics
In October 2007, Sandler donated over a million dollars to the Boys and Girls Club in Manchester, New Hampshire. He has also donated over 400 Sony Playstations to children who were victimized during the war between Israel and Lebanon.
He was also a participant in America: A Tribute to Heroes. This was a charity event for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Other charitable works include performing at “Night of Too Many Stars”. This event was used to raise money for Autism Speaks. He was also in the Chris Farley Foundation video.
In addition, Sandler supports the Animal Rescue Foundation, Clothes off Our Back, Ante Up for Africa, and the EB Medical Research Foundation. He also supports the ENOUGH Project, Feeding America, Make a Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots and the Life Rolls on Foundation.
In 2007, Sandler gave $2,100 to the campaign of presidential campaign of Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani. In addition, Adam is a registered Republican.
Adam Sandler is married to Jacqueline Samantha Titone and they have two daughters, Sadie Madison and Sunny Madeline. He has homes in New York City and Los Angeles, California.
