Angela Michelle Harmon was born on August 10, 1972. Her birthplace was Highland Park, Texas. Her father Lawrence Paul “Larry” Harmon is an executive of hospital information-networks in Texas. Her mother is Daphne Demar née Caravageli. Her father has Cherokee Native American and English blood while her mother is Greek. Her parents were models. She is not related to actor Mark Harmon.
During the late 1980s she was a child model. That was also the year she won the Seventeen modeling competition. She subsequently went to Highland Park High School until 1990. She was a part of the Highland Belles. One of her fellow students was Stephanie March of Law & Order.
Harmon was a senior while March was a sophomore. Harmon would go on to win a Spectrum Model Search contest. This encouraged her to pursue a modeling career, gaining popularity in the early 1990s. She modeled for Donna Karan, Armani and Calvin Klein, among others. She has also appeared on the covers of Esquire, Cosmopolitan, ELLE and other fashion magazines. She is currently part of IMG Models.
Harmon’s husband is Jason Sehorn a pro football player. Their engagement took place October 13, 1998. She was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Suddenly Leno called Sehorn and he proposed to her. Their marriage took place on June 9, 2001. They have four children, all girls.
Harmon started her acting career in 1995. She was discovered by David Hasselhoff while on a plane with her. She subsequently appeared in many TV shows among them C-16: FBI, Baywatch and Baywatch Nights. Harmon can also be seen on the movie Lawn Dogs which came out in 1998. She would gain prominence after joining Law & Order on NBC in the late 1990s. From 1998-2001 she played the role of ADA Abbie Carmichael.
Harmon was also part of the animated film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. She provided the voice of Barbara Gordon in that film. Her other credits include being in the TV show Inconceivable (NBC). She was also in ABC’s Women’s Murder Club.
She departed Law & order to focus on her movie career. She has gone on record saying she preferred film work over television. She was part of the direct to video movie Good Advice (2001). Harmon was in End Game, a political suspense drama which went straight to DVD. Co-starring with her in the movie were James Woods and Cuba Gooding Jr. Harmon appeared in the “UpLiv” infomercial. She was also in the Olay “Pro-X” wrinkle cream infomercial.
Angie Harmon can be seen on the Rizzoli & Isles television series. She plays the role of Detective Jane Rizzoli on the show. Prior to this series, she appeared in the pilot of Secrets of a Small Town by ABC.
