Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955 in dar-Oberstein, West Germany but grew up in Penns Grove, New Jersey. After starring in the hit TV series Moonlighting, he would proceed to star in several box office hit films, most notably the Die Hard series.
After graduating from high school, Willis headed to New York to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor. Previously he had worked as a welder, bartender and private investigator. His big break came when he landed the role of David Addison in the TV series Moonlighting (1985). The series, in which he costarred with Cybil Shepherd, became a hit.
Following his stint in Moonlighting, Willis focused on his movie career. His early films included Sunset and Blind Date with Kim Basinger. However, it was the 1988 blockbuster film Die Hard that catapulted him to superstardom.
The film would spawn the sequels Die Hard 2 (1990), Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) and Live Free or Die Hard (2007). He also starred in suspense action films like the Last Boy Scout (1991) and Striking Distance (1993). Willis also did the voice of the baby in the 1989 film Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too (1990).
Although known for his action films, Willis has also played critically acclaimed roles in films like Pulp Fiction (1994), the sci-fi film Twelve Monkeys (1995), the Fifth Element (1997) and the Sixth Sense (1999). The latter was both a critical and box office success.
Willis would also star in Armageddon, which would go on to become one of the highest grossing films of the 1990s. He also starred in the 2007 film Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry.

Willis has set up his own charitable foundation and he also supports the Special Olympics, Children’s Hospice & Palliative Care Coalition and the Screen Actor’s Guild Foundation.
Willis is a supporter of the Republican Party and has expressed support for many of its candidates. In 1988, he and his then wife Demi Moore aided the presidential bid of Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis. In 1992, Willis also showed his support for President George H.W. Bush in his bid for reelection.
He also supported the candidacy of George W. Bush. Willis became a guest speaker at the 2000 Republican National Convention. In numerous interviews, he has said he still supports the ideals of the Republicans. Bruce isn’t a straight-ticket Republican though, he explains “I’m a Republican only as far as I want a smaller government, I want less government intrusion.”
Willis has also expressed his support for augmenting the salaries of police teachers and teachers. He is also an ardent believer in the proper care of Native Americans. He is in favor of a smaller government, one that does not intrude too much into private businesses.
Willis is also an advocate of gun rights. He has also condemned Hamas and gave his support to Israel during its conflict with Lebanon in 2006.
Bruce Willis is married to Emma Heming. His upcoming films include Die Hard 5 and the Expendables with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. He is also scheduled to star in the big screen adaptation of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men.
