Jessica Simpson was born on July 10, 1980 in Dallas, Texas. A singer and actress, she has had seven singles enter the Billboard Top 40. Simpson has also starred in movies and TV shows.
The daughter of a minister, Simpson’s singing ability was first noticed when she started singing in the church choir. Her voice caught the attention of a producer who encouraged her to become a recording artist. Her father decided to manage her career and she released an independent album. The album eventually reached Tommy Mottola, head of Columbia Records.
Her first album Sweet Kisses was released in 1999 and went double platinum. Her follow up album Irresistible came out in 2001. It would sell over 3 million copies and be one of the biggest of her career. This was followed by In This Skin in 2003, A Public Affair in 2006 and Do You Know in 2008.
Simpson also starred in the reality TV show the Newlyweds, which helped solidify her status as a major TV personality. This was followed by her appearance in the film the Dukes of Hazzard in 2005.
Her other films include Employee of the Month (2006), Blonde Ambition (2007) and Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous, which came out in 2008. Like other celebs, Simpson has her own line of beauty products. She is designing handbags, boots and shoes. Simpson also has her own brand of sleepwear.
She is currently starring in the realty TV show “The Price of Beauty”. Simpson and her father Joe Simpson are the executive producers of the program.

Simpson supports the A Day Made Better charity foundation, Operation Smile, the AetheriA Foundation and the Skin Cancer Foundation. She has also donated to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
She is also a supporter of SixDegrees.org, Soles4Souls and Variety – the Children’s Charity. She has made several donations to this group, including a Chrysler minivan.
She is also an advocate of cancer research and gives support for charities that give disaster relief, help to refugees, education, children and other philanthropic activities.
Simpson is the International Youth Ambassador for Operation Smile. This is the group that performs free reconstructive surgery for adults and children in 25 developing nations.
Simpson first heard of the group from her hairdresser Ken Paves. Within a few months she became the organization’s youth ambassador. According to Operation Smile, Simpson has generated $4 million for the group from the TV coverage alone.
Simpson performed in the Los Angeles Gala in 2003 on behalf on Operation Smile. She has appeared in NBC’s “Apprentice” for charity. The following year Simpson was given the Universal Smile Award by Operation Smile.
After accepting the award she went to Nakuru, Kenya where she joined a team to evaluate 280 children needing reconstructive surgery.
When it comes to politics, Simpson endorsed President George W. bush in 2004.
Jessica Simpson is currently working on a new album. She has also ventured into different businesses, and has launched her own fragrance.
